Surface restoration

Surface restoration: renewing what you already love

Surface restoration at Ambience Restored is about bringing tired, worn or outdated surfaces back to life instead of replacing them. We specialise in refinishing kitchen benchtops, dining and timber tables, and 2‑pac cabinetry so they look better than new, without the cost and disruption of full replacement.

Our process is precise, dust‑controlled and built around the way you use your space, whether that’s a busy family kitchen, a rental investment property or a builder’s project needing a polished finish at handover.

What we restore

Kitchen benchtops

Many benchtops look worn long before they’re structurally finished. We restore:

• Laminate and solid‑surface benchtops with scratches, burn marks and edge wear

• Joinery‑style timber benchtops that have lost their lustre or accumulated stains

The goal is to refresh the surface, tighten up the edges and give your kitchen a clean, modern look that matches your existing cabinetry.

Dining tables & timber pieces

Timber tables and other furniture can fade, scratch and stain over time. We restore:

• Dining tables and coffee tables with worn finishes, stains and light damage

• Timber benches, desks and shelves that need a new protective topcoat

• Feature timber pieces that still have good structure but tired finishes

Refinishing keeps the character and grain of your timber while giving it a fresh, durable finish.

2‑pac cabinetry & joinery

We offer respray and finish restoration for 2‑pac cabinetry and select joinery items, ideal for:

• Kitchen and bathroom cabinetry that has dulled, scratched or faded over time

• Wardrobes and built‑ins where a change of colour or finish improves the room

• New builds or renovated homes where a small change of colour or sheen lifts the whole space

We prepare the surfaces properly, mask surrounding areas and apply a high‑quality finish that is hard‑wearing and cleanable.

Other surfaces

Depending on the material and condition, we can also restore other surfaces such as:

• doors and door frames needing a fresh coat

• Timber balustrades, bench‑style seating and other feature elements like stairs, mantles etc

• Existing joinery that benefits from a new protective or decorative topcoat

We’ll assess each surface on site or from photos and let you know what level of restoration is possible and what results you can expect.

Why choose surface restoration?

Keep the structure, update the look

Many benchtops, tables and cabinetry are still structurally sound even when they look worn. Surface restoration keeps the original base, so you avoid the cost and mess of replacement while getting a fresh, modern finish.

Cheaper than full replacement

Refinishing a benchtop, table or cabinet is usually far less expensive than sourcing and installing a new one, especially when you factor in labour, trades and disruption.

Faster turnaround

Surface restoration is typically faster than full replacement. In many cases, we can complete the work and have the area ready for use or re‑staging within a short timeframe.

Less waste, more value

By restoring instead of replacing, you keep your existing furniture and joinery in use and out of landfill, which supports more sustainable, value‑focused maintenance.

How a surface restoration job works

1. Send details and photos

Take photos of the surfaces you want restored (benchtops, tables, cabinetry, doors) and tell us what you’d like to achieve (refresh, change colour, or change sheen).

2. On‑site assessment (if needed)

For larger or more complex jobs, we’ll visit the site to check condition, substrate, and any constraints like access or use of the space.

3. Preparation

We clean, sand and prep surfaces properly, repair any minor damage, and mask surrounding areas to keep dust and overspray contained.

4. Refinishing or respray

We apply a suitable primer and topcoat, whether that’s a clear refinishing coat on a bench or table, or a full 2‑pac respray on cabinetry. We focus on even coverage, clean lines and a professional finish.

5. Cure and handback

Once the finish has cured, the surface is ready for normal use or handover. We clean up our area and leave the space in a tidy state.
